Exciting Premier League Saturday: Arsenal, United, and Tottenham in Action

The Premier League had an exciting day of Saturday duels in which Arsenal, United and Tottenham were active.

Arsenal dropped their first points of the season this Saturday against Fulham (2-2), a week before hosting Manchester United, who for their part came from behind against Nottingham Forest (3-2) during the 3rd day of the Premier League.

After Arsenal’s draw and Brighton’s subsequent loss to West Ham, only reigning champions Manchester City, who visit Sheffield United on Sunday, can go on to win their first three matches.

The ‘Gunners’ had a bad start to the game, being surprised by the Brazilian Andreas Pereira at 57 seconds. After turning the game around with goals from Bukayo Saka (70, penalty) and Eddie Nketiah (72), the Portuguese Joao Palhinha (87) achieved the final tie.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United started even worse than Arsenal, but the ‘Red Devils’ managed to turn the game against Forest around with patience and determination.

At 3 minutes and 45 seconds, they had already conceded two goals. Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi (2), who has scored in the last seven league games, and Willy Boly (4) from Ivory, punished United’s weak defense.

The Danish Christian Eriksen (17) began to put order, before the Brazilian Casemiro first (51) and the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes later (76, penalty), put the Red Devils ahead.

Tottenham, convincing

“It wasn’t the perfect start for us but we kept control, the ball and we started to do things well,” Fernandes said after the game.

“The team showed a great attitude, passion and desire. We just have to understand that we cannot concede so soon,” he added.

Hours earlier, Tottenham won 2-0 at Bournemouth and remains undefeated since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, the new coach. Thanks to this, the Spurs are provisional leaders, in the absence of the rest of the games of the third date.

“I liked the way in which we managed adversity and controlled the game,” the Australian coach, who arrived in north London in June, said on TNT Sports.

The defense was precise, the game more enthusiastic and James Maddison, arrived from Leicester, has fitted in perfectly. On Saturday he scored his first goal, managed the game and made two players forget: the departure of Harry Kane and the lack of efficiency of the Brazilian Richarlison, who was again replaced at game time.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Everton conceded their third home defeat in as many games by losing 1-0 to Wolverhampton and Brentford and Crystal Palace drew 1-1.
