Exciting News for Walkers and Cyclists: Greenway Bike Reopens for Use in Tarn et Garonne

Good news for walkers and cyclists! They will once again be able to borrow the Greenway Bike. The Departmental Council of Tarn et Garonne just announced the reopening complete of this route which runs along the side canal to the Garonne then the canal du midi.

A course affected by bad weather

On June 20, severe weather, which caused a lot of damage in the department, also impacted the Voie Verte. Since then, the departmental teams and four companies have embarked on a long clearance work to restore the road network and this path heavily used by pedestrians, runners and cyclists.

“Thanks to the sustained efforts of the teams, the last heavily damaged sections have been fully restored,” the department said in a statement. The two reopened portions are those of Valence-Pommevic et Malause-Bouda.

A touristic site

The Vélo Voie Verte is a real gem nestled in the heart of nature. Linking the department of Tarn-et-Garonne to that of Haute-Garonne, it offers passers-by bucolic landscapes made up of fields, meadows and orchards on more than 14 km. The path also crosses several villages close to Montauban and offers some equipment for picnicking or practicing a sports activity.
