The state is ready to receive the first ship arriving at Vizhinjam port. Port Department Minister Ahmed Devarkovil said that the arrival of the ship on Sunday will be a day of joy for the Malayalis. The Minister added that the days of change are coming in the field of development in the state.
The ship comes with three cranes required for the port. The Shenhua 15 ship has already reached the outer sea from the Mundra coast in Gujarat. The state will officially welcome the ship to shore at a grand ceremony on Sunday.
The minister expressed hope that the commissioning and further operations of the port would be completed as scheduled. Once the first ship arrives, other ships will arrive with the rest of the cranes needed by the port over the coming months. The port is designed to handle 10 lakh containers.
