Exciting New Features of Snipping Tool and Notepad on Windows 11 Insider Beta

Written by Samah Labib Saturday, September 02, 2023 04:00 AM Testing Microsoft Some great new features of the Snipping Tool on Windows 11 and Notepad, and these features are only in the Windows Insider beta at the moment, but they may soon be rolled out to more users.

According to The Verge, anyone who tries to turn off their computer or close Notepad can now automatically save Notepad, tabs, and dark mode.

And in the Windows Insider Program blog post announcing the new features, Dave Grochocki writes:

With this update, Notepad will start saving your session state automatically allowing you to close Notepad without any interruption of dialogs and pick up where you left off. When you return, Notepad will automatically restore previously opened tabs as well as unsaved content and edits via these open tabs.

However, the saved session state does not affect any of your files, and you can still choose to save or discard unsaved changes to files any time you close a tab.

The Snipping Tool in Windows has also got a better screen recording interface, there’s a new keyboard shortcut to go directly to the screen recording instead of having to click it from the screenshot toolbar, and a new default audio source option, so you can include microphone input in addition to computer audio. , and that would be helpful.
