The premieres of August 11, 2023
‘Gran Turismo’ (2023)
It is the adaptation to the big screen of the legendary saga of driving simulators created by Kazunori Yamauchi. It is directed by Neill Blomkamp, responsible for the celebrated ‘District 9’ and titles like ‘Elysium’ or ‘Chappie’. It adapts the true story of Jann Mardenborough, the Gran Turismo player who made the leap to real competition racing after passing through the GT Academy. In his cast there are names like Orlando Bloom and David Harbor as charismatic as usual.
Criticism in Espinof: ‘Gran Turismo’ is an adaptation worthy of a podium: an overwhelming and exciting audiovisual show gripped by the common places of the genre
‘Talk to me’ (‘Talk To Me’, 2022)
It is the feature film debut of brothers Danny and Michael Phillippou, two youtubers who have a lot to teach many genre directors. The film was acquired by the prestigious A24 studio after falling in love on the festival circuit. Its cast is led by Sophie Wide, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird and Otis Dhanji. We are probably facing the best horror feature film of 2023 released to date.
‘The Bogeyman’ (2023)
This is the new film by Ángel Gómez Hernández, director of ‘Voces’ and the popular short film ‘Behind’. Its cast includes names like Javier Botet, Macarena Gómez and Manolo Solo. It is a co-production between Spain and Uruguay that adapts the Spanish myth under a prism close to that seen in ‘Stranger Things’.
