Keep your fingers crossed: On Thursday, the Austrian junior national team (U15 mix, U15 boys, U15 girls) travels to Italy for the 2nd European Flag Football Championship.
What is flag football anyway? This is the contactless version of American football. It has everything a sport needs: excitement, dynamics and tactics. Three young people from Döbling, a girl and two young men, are also part of the party.
This is going to be exciting
A total of 21 teams from ten nations will take part in the medal competitions over the weekend. At the last European Championships, the red-white-red youngsters won three bronze medals and one silver. No wonder: in addition to the long-running sports such as football, alternatives such as flag football are becoming increasingly popular. In the next few years, the sport is even set to become an Olympic sport – which could mean a further jump in popularity.
