Exciting Finish: Carinthian Steelers Claim Fourth Consecutive Para Ice Hockey Championship Title

More exciting than ever before. This is how you can summarize the two final games of this year’s para ice hockey championship. The last two duels in the regular season already promised high excitement. The Styrians celebrated their first win of the season with a 2-0 win and were only narrowly defeated 3-4 in the last game.

In the first final game on Saturday evening, the Panthers were able to advance twice, but ultimately had to admit defeat 2:3. Sandro Kalegaris scored the 2-2 equalizer and, a few minutes later, the winning goal for the Steelers.

On Sunday morning the Styrians were first to write again and took a 1-0 lead through captain Michael Sauer. The defending champions turned the game around again and the last two goals were reserved for Sandro Kalegaris. The Steelers also won the second final game 4:3. It is the fourth title in a row for the Carinthians.

Stefan Eberdorfer, Carinthian Steelers: “The last four games were evenly matched. You can see that para ice hockey is developing in Austria. We are hoping for growth so that we can hopefully have three or four teams in the future.”
