Exciting East Westphalian Derby in Second Round of DHB Cup Draws Handball Fans

The draw in the DHB Cup on Wednesday evening gave the East Westphalian handball fans a special highlight with the derby between the two second division teams TuS N-Lübbecke and GWD Minden.

The winner of this second round game, which will be played between September 4th and 24th, can expect a home game against Bundesliga club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten in the third round (October 3rd to 5th).

Due to the new cup mode, 15 teams in the Bundesliga will only enter in the third round. The top three of the Final Four of the previous round (Rhein-Neckar Löwen, SC Magdeburg, SG Flensburg-Handewitt) even start in the cup in the round of 16 in December. The games of the second and third round have now been drawn in Cologne.

Third round: TBV against Göppingen, VfL near Düsseldorf-Ratingen

Bundesliga club TBV Lemgo Lippe intervened in the third round of the cup. Opponent in their own hall is the league competitor FA Göppingen. In a Rhenish derby, third division club Düsseldorf-Ratingen meets first division club VfL Gummersbach.

There could be another Rhineland duel in the third round. Third division team HSG Krefeld has to face HSG Nordhorn-Lingen from the 2nd Bundesliga in the second round. The winner of this game then awaits the Bundesliga club Bergischer HC in round three.

Second round: ASV expects Potsdam, Hagen to Ludwigshafen

In the second round, the Bergische Panther from the 3rd division will host the second division club VfL Lübeck-Schwartau (the winner then plays against SC DHfK Leipzig), while Bundesliga relegated ASV Hamm-Westfalen is expecting 1. VfL Potsdam in a pure second division duel ( winner against HSV Hamburg).

TuSEM Essen (2nd BL) has to play away at the third division club HB Oppenweiler/Backnang (winner goes to the North Rhine league club HC Gelpe/Strombach in Oberberg). Third division TuS Ferndorf plays in their own hall against second division SG BBM Bietigheim (winner against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf). VfL Eintracht Hagen travels to Eulen Ludwigshafen in a second division duel (winner against the winner of the game TuS Fürstenfeldbrück (3rd division) against second division HSC 2000 Coburg).
