Barcelona almost equalized in the 28th minute. Luuk de Jong’s header ball in the penalty box leads right into the arms of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
De Jong again had a golden opportunity three minutes later. The Dutch striker’s header was again saved by Courtois.
1-1! Barcelona equalized three minutes before the break. This time De Jong did not waste opportunities in front of Madrid’s goal.
This goal came from Ousmane Dembele’s pull bait on the right side. The ball failed to be cleared perfectly by Eder Militao and it hit De Jong’s leg. The ball bounced before finally entering the goal.

Barcelona step on the gas early in the second half. Pedri almost brought the Blaugrana ahead through his long-range kick in the 48th minute. The ball slid thin in the Madrid goal.
Barcelona again threatened in the 53rd minute. The ball bounced off Dembele’s penalty box sideways from goal.
Madrid hit back in the 68th minute. Benzema’s kick ball in the penalty box hit the Barcelona goalpost.
2-1! Madrid scored the second three minutes later. Benzema didn’t waste a chance with a tap-in goal, maxing out Dani Carvajal’s cross in the penalty area.
2-2! Barcelona equalized in the 84th minute. Ansu Fati, who appeared as a substitute, headed in Jordi Alba’s cross.
Fati’s goal forced the second half to end in a 2-2 draw. The game goes to extra time.
