Residents of the Kuban will be able to observe several astronomical phenomena at once next month.
Two bright astronomical phenomena are expected in July – Earth at aphelion and the Southern Delta Aquarids meteor shower.
So, on July 6 at 23.06 Moscow time, the annual orbit of the Earth around the Sun will lead it to aphelion – our planet will be at the farthest point of its orbit from the star at a distance of 152,093,251 kilometers.
And on the night of July 31, the South Delta Aquarids meteor shower will peak. Up to 25 meteors per hour are expected. The stream is valid from July 18 to August 21. In clear weather, the best time to observe meteors is before dawn. This was reported in the press service of the Moscow Planetarium.
Also in July, there is a high probability of the appearance of noctilucent clouds in the twilight sky. These are the highest cloud formations in the earth’s atmosphere, occurring at altitudes of 70-95 kilometers. They are typical for middle and high latitudes. In the Krasnodar Territory, this phenomenon is extremely rare.
Supermoon, starfalls, eclipses: earlier, Kuban News reported what astronomical phenomena residents of the Krasnodar Territory will be able to see in 2023.
