Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the stands prepared by the companies of these industries on the Post Island. The Education room of the Competence Development Center of the Zemgale region will be open, where you can familiarize yourself with the offer of the adult education institution for the new school year. The traditional competition of professional welders will also take place.
Universities and educational institutions will present educational opportunities in engineering programs at the festival, as well as stimulate children and young people’s interest in exact sciences and technical creativity. This year, for the first time, Riga Technical University’s curiosity center “Futurimo Rīga” will participate in the festival, which will allow children to get to know the wide application of physics, chemistry, natural sciences and engineering in STEM open-air workshops. Also this year, the event will feature “Masoc TehnoBuss” – a mobile demonstration laboratory with fully functional technological stands and automated processing machines. Craftsmen, associations, technical creative schools and groups will also present their products and creative works.
In order to promote inventive activity, during the festival, the exhibition of inventions and innovations «Minox Zemgale 2023» will be held in the open-air skating rink. Taking into account the votes of the visitors, the winners will be determined. It should be noted that anyone who has an invention can participate in the invention exhibition – there are no age or other restrictions for participation. This year, during the exhibition, there will be a master class of experiments and innovations, led by event producer Gundega Skudriņa.
At the same skating rink, for the first time in Jelgava, the competition of professional skills of students of the metalworking and mechanical engineering industry of the vocational education institutions of the Baltic States will be held, as well as the competition of creative ideas of science teachers “Science on stage”.
Physical activities will not be neglected on the Post Island either – there will be an opportunity to participate in the competition in bench press and the “Power!” sports challenge. – the participants will have to hold their weight for a while in the barbell with their straight hands, without their feet touching the ground. Sports activities do not require advance registration and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On the other hand, the Jelgava extreme sports association “Veloplacis” will offer participants to put themselves in the shoes of a BMX rider, to enjoy the specifics of BMX sports riding and improve their cycling skills in a safe environment under the guidance of professional riders. Participants will be provided with the necessary equipment – specialized BMX bikes and helmets. As usual, lovers of motorsport activities are also invited to the sports and recreation complex “Rullītis”, where the stage of the Latvian trial championship will take place on September 2, the stage of the Latvian karting championship on September 16, and on September 17 – competitions in various motorsport disciplines.
