For almost a year and a half, due to a full-scale war, some citizens do not have the right to leave the country, but there are some exceptions to the rules.
In connection with the operation of martial law and general mobilization, in Ukraine there is a ban on travel abroad for men liable for military service. There were some exceptions here, and they are spelled out in resolution Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at number 57.
While the war continues, men liable for military service between the ages of 18 and 60 cannot leave the country and at any time can receive a summons for further service. But, under certain circumstances, the rule does not apply.
Traveling abroad for men from August 1: who is eligible
In accordance with the laws of Ukraine, those who are not subject to general mobilization on a number of points can leave the country: by age, health status, personal circumstances, or because of their professional activities.
This includes the following citizens:
men under the age of 18 and over 60 years; men from 18 to 60 years old who permanently reside in the territory of another country. They must have the appropriate marks about this in their passports; men excluded from military records for health reasons who are allowed to travel abroad for health reasons. For example, you can go for treatment; men who are allowed to travel abroad for family reasons; men of military age who have the right to travel abroad because of their profession; citizens who are allowed to travel abroad to help the Defense Forces in confronting the Russian Federation; military personnel who have a special permit; men and women in the public service.
Departure abroad for men from August 1: nuances
There are also certain reasons why citizens of Ukraine can officially leave the country for a while. For example, if it is necessary to help the Armed Forces.
This list includes volunteer drivers who transport humanitarian aid, medical supplies and cargo for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This also applies to representatives of culture, who, thanks to concerts, collect large sums and send them to the army. Special attention is paid to the fact that they simultaneously glorify the country in the international arena.
Permits are also issued to athletes and coaches to participate in competitions and training camps.
You can leave and for family reasons. Eg:
fathers of many children of minor children; in the presence of children under 18 with disabilities; fathers who independently raise a child or are guardians of minor orphans with disabilities; in the presence of adult children with disabilities of group I or II; if relatives of the wife or husband need constant care . Supporting documents are needed here; if one of the parents or the wife is a person with a disability of group I or II.
By profession:
military personnel are allowed to go on vacation if they have documents and permission from military units; employees of institutions that care for people with disabilities and are registered with the military; crew members of ships, if they go to work on ships, inland navigation vessels; employees of railway transport; aviation personnel – on a business trip or for training.
