Particularly high temperatures for the season have been established in France since Sunday, and this episode of mildness and exceptional heat should last all week.
This Monday, October 17, 2022, Météo France reports on Twitter that the warmest minimum temperature records have been broken at several stations. The meteorological agency specifies that these new records will be confirmed and validated at 8 pm this evening.
In several municipalities, therefore, we have probably recorded a new record for the “sweetest night” on 17 October 2022. These are therefore the highest minimum temperatures recorded for the month of October.
A great sweetness in the South-West
Records were thus established in several departments of the southwest: Corrèze, Hérault, Creuse, Aude, Lot-et-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées up to the Charente and Vienne.
A sweetness record of 20.9 ° C was recorded in four municipalities: Fitou and Lagrasse (Aude), Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) and Ayros Arbouix (Hautes-Pyrénées).
In three other stations (Durban-Corbières, Béziers and Carcassonne), Météo France recorded minimum temperatures greater than or equal to 20 ° C. This threshold of 20 ° C is the one above which a night is considered “tropical”.
Particularly high temperatures are expected for the season throughout the week, due to the warm air from North Africa. This will also be accompanied by the sand of the Sahara.
Météo France expects to break several heat records for the month of October.
