The coffee maker, brought especially for the occasion, finds its place on a table near the entrance. A few moments of searching and the electrical outlets needed to plug in the laptops are found. Pens are placed on tables. Everything is ready. “It’s the first time here so you just have to get your bearings with the locals,” whispers an administrative agent from the Val-d’Oise academic inspectorate about the Pôle emploi agency in Garges-lès-Gonesse. This is where on Monday, she and around ten of her colleagues took part in an exceptional recruitment day. Objective ? Try to find new contract teachers for area schools.
The principle itself is not new. For this start of the school year alone, nearly 400 have already been hired throughout Val-d’Oise to try to remedy the lack of teachers in the department, during “job dating” at the Versailles rectorate or sessions at headquarters. of academic management at Osny. But that was not enough, so the institution decided to innovate with recruitment days relocated to the east of Val-d’Oise to hope to fill vacant positions particularly in Écouen, Garges, Gonesse and Villiers-le. -Bel, a sector which presents the most social inequalities in the department. A few days ago, parents’ mobilizations denounced significant shortages in these municipalities.
Travel restrictions for candidates
“It is in this part of the department that we have the most needs, particularly because it is the densest. By getting closer to the candidates, the idea is to remove obstacles such as transport and access difficulties,” specifies Jean-Baptiste Kulik, deputy academic director in charge of first degree, present this Monday. As a reminder, it takes more than 1h30 by public transport to go to Cergy-Villiers-le-Bel for example. What about the impact of the sector’s image, which is sometimes negative? One of the members of the 5 jury pairs of the day, knowing Sarcelles very well, assures us: “We have no difficulty in getting people to come, the city is not a repellent contrary to what we believe. could imagine.”
In all cases, “80% of the candidates are inhabitants of this population area”, underlines Laetitia André, director of the Garges employment center, partner of National Education, who worked with her colleagues from Gonesse and Sarcelles on this event. 46 were expected this Monday with two types of candidates. On the one hand, those who sent their CV directly to the academic inspectorate and were summoned today, the others, contacted by Pôle emploi. “People with the level of diploma and skills transferable to National Education,” specifies the agency head.
A quarter of applicants did not show up
But ultimately only 34 will show up. “I even expected more withdrawals given the events of last Friday. Succeeding in completing a session in two weeks as we did is encouraging. With beautiful qualified profiles, graduates, far from the somewhat truncated image that we can sometimes have of the east of Val-d’Oise. And the local side is attractive, that’s for sure because mobility is always a central issue in 95,” notes the manager.
“It’s a real plus,” says one candidate. “We know the East. We feel at home,” says another. Her neighbor, a resident of Arnouville, agrees but tempers: “I would still prefer to avoid certain schools.”
Garges, this Monday. Interviews before a pair of jury take place individually in a dedicated room. LP/AC
Is there room for everyone present? “In principle yes, but be careful, we are doing qualitative research. Besides, it’s BAC + 3 minimum but today, there are at least 30% BAC + 5,” says Jean-Baptiste Kulik. This is the case of this 23-year-old resident of Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt, as she explains in her cover letter, written by hand to test grammar and spelling, then during the obligatory individual interview of thirty minutes. In front of her, Émilie Bernier, educational advisor and Nathalie Kuntz, former inspector in the east is now in charge of priority education on the 95. “Villiers-le-Bel is a very beautiful area”, encourages the latter when the candidate announces his “ideal position” in Écouen.
After various experiences in her original branch of marketing, the young woman decided to reorient herself towards teaching. “I want people-oriented work. I did a lot of research and teachers around me confirmed that it suited me,” she reports. The young woman has already registered for the CRPE, the competition to become a school teacher and has, without a doubt, carefully prepared for her interview crowned with a “very favorable opinion”. In total, 16 applications will be selected in the end “of which 9 are available immediately”.
If all continue the process, they should take the lead of a class after “a minimum week in that of a master trainer and a week of training during the All Saints holidays. Added to this are at least two months of tutoring, renewed if necessary, and 18 hours of training during the year,” insists Jean-Baptiste Kulik. Still insufficient according to the teaching unions.
