‘Except for surprises’ Arsenal sells ‘ideal reinforcement’ – Rayototal

Arsenal sell Granit Xhaka to Roma this summer for 20 million euros unless something surprising happens, according to reports in Italy.

Xhaka is strongly linked to the summer transfer to Rome and joined former Tottenham manager José Mourinho at the Serie A club.

The 28-year-old midfielder has made 220 appearances for Arsenal since he replaced Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2016.

He played a starring role for Switzerland when they reached the Euro 2020 quarterfinals eliminating France in the process, but Arsenal are still looking for Xhaka this summer.

The Swiss midfielder is pushing for him to move to Roma, and reports this month suggest that talks between the two clubs are progressing despite the rejected offer of 15 million euros from the Italian team.

A recent report claimed that the deal is not as close as initially claimed, where the two clubs could not agree on compensation for the player.

“What happens next, you learn from that. Everything else doesn’t distract me.

“I am fit, motivated and eager to do a lot for the team in this tournament.”

Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlor believes the pace of Italian football will please Xhaka down to the last detail.
