Two semi-finals in the cup tournament and a competition match with our youth teams last weekend.
Excelsior under 14 qualifies for the cup final
Excelsior under 14 qualified for the final of the cup tournament at the expense of FC Volendam. A nice goal gave Excelsior a 1-0 lead before half-time. Unfortunately, FC Volendam equalized after half-time. Excelsior then took the lead again thanks to a quick breakout. They fought and worked hard to reach the final and the feeling of relief was incredible after the referee’s final whistle. Excelsior under 14 will play against AZ under 14 in the final.
Excelsior under 18 wins 3-1 against PEC Zwolle under 18
Excelsior under 18 played at home against PEC Zwolle under 18 for the competition. Excelsior played an incredibly strong first half, which meant they went to half time 3-0. Excelsior did not score again in the second half, but did create chances. The match eventually ended 3-1. The Kralingers rose to second place with this victory.
Excelsior under 21 loses 2-3 to FC Volendam
Excelsior under 21 came into action in the semi-final of the cup tournament against FC Volendam under 21. A battered Excelsior unfortunately had less luck in Volendam than the under 14 and lost 3-2. This was partly explained by the fact that four regular basic players (Jeremy Udenhout, Siem de Moes, Pascal Kuiper and Jose de Almeida) were with the first team that played against Go Ahead Eagles. As a result, the team could not play in its strongest composition. Raphaël Eyongo and Jaedan Gaari scored the goals for Thomas Verhaar’s team, which can now fully focus on the competition.
