A hard-fought game developed from the first set. Despite the visitors failing to win the first set, contrary to their recent performances, Lahnau’s team improved from set to set. Above all, the physical superiority of TV actors could be used again and again. Strong blocking and field defense caused significant problems for the opponent. The acceptance of guests has also been significantly improved compared to Bühl’s trip. Gold MVP Tobias Rücker impressed with a strong performance. Supported by the often diagonally staged main striker Henri Oetken, the visitors won the second and third sets. In the fourth round, Waldgirles’ team was able to recover and tie at 11:23 pm, but finally had to admit defeat at 11:25 pm. But anyone who thought that the people of Breisgau now had an advantage was to be proven wrong. Then it was the guests who crowned their excellent performance in the tie-break. A few errors in serving, a variable distribution of passes and intelligent offensive solutions in all positions led to a clear set win of 15:6.
Although the first part of the season has so far been disappointing, the match bodes well for a turning point. The first game of the second half of the season against TGM Mainz-Gonsenheim is already scheduled for the weekend. The next step from the “table cellar” is to follow.
