Dozens were injured in a coal mine blast in Turkey’s Kanak district of Izmir district. The incident, which is supposed to be due to an explosion of grit gas, happened around 9 pm last night. Nearly 50 miners work in the mine. Some of them are affected by the gas.
Izmir Yavuz Governor Selim Koesger said in a statement that there were no casualties and 22 people were slightly injured in the collapse.
Later in the night, Health Minister Fahretin Kodja made the following statement on social media:
“After the collapse of the mine in Kanak, 45 people were injured and taken to hospitals in Kanak, Bergamo and Soma. 14 ambulances, 2 rescue teams and a total of 48 medical staff were sent to the scene.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Dönmez pointed out:
“I convey my best wishes to our miners, who were injured in the partial collapse of their career in Kanak. We have no serious injuries. “
