The commune of Bama highlighted its most deserving teachers and students through a day of academic excellence held on October 25, 2023 at the Kou Valley ”A” primary school in Bama. The ceremony was under the patronage of Adama Bidiga, High Commissioner of the Houet province and the sponsorship of Abdoulaye Traoré, President of the special delegation of Bama.
“Role and place of education in the reconquest of the national territory”, it is under this theme that the day of academic excellence, 2023 edition, was held. The second of its kind, this day allowed us to make a stop to celebrate the players in the educational world and the learners who have best distinguished themselves through their results. This is how 13 students from different basic education districts (CEB) each received a bicycle plus a backpack, containing school supplies. The teachers, numbering 17, were each awarded a certificate of merit and some also received tablets.
Feelings of joy and recognition for the winners
For Rayan Kaboré, representing the winning students, there are no excellent students without a quality teacher. This was the place for him to thank these education stakeholders who have spared no effort to provide them with quality education. His wish is that this activity be included in the annual program of the municipality of Bama in order to perpetuate it. However, it is a feeling of joy and recognition that drives Calixte Somé, winning teacher. Because for him when you have been doing work for years so that it is finally recognized by the authorities, you can only be happy. He encourages everyone to always be committed to a job well done, especially in this resilient Burkina. Same story for… who finds it a laudable initiative. Because it allows us to celebrate excellence.
Education at the center of concerns
According to Adama Bidiga, High Commissioner of Houet and patron of the ceremony, education must be at the center of concerns to hope for the development of society. In this regard, he affirms that it occupies a special place in the program of the highest authorities of the country. He did not forget to congratulate and encourage the winners for their efforts which led to these results.
Adama Bidiga urges the commune of Bama to keep the flame of organizing this activity burning and put in place other initiatives that encourage excellence. Abdoulaye Traoré, PDS of Bama will watch over this, if we refer to his words. According to him, their efforts will always be recognized in his town. Speaking about the theme of this day of excellence, the PDS of Bama finds it challenging. He argues that where education has failed, violence takes over.
For this, he said, the commune of Bama is proud of these education stakeholders and learners and invites them to work tirelessly to stay the course, and to others to redouble their efforts to soon be among the winners. Abdoulaye Traoré has faith that in the near future, the insecurity that Burkina is experiencing will be a bad memory and already by projecting himself into the future, “ we rely on education to build a prosperous nation of peace and social cohesion,” he adds.
Note that at this ceremony, the PDS of the 7 districts of Bobo and those of the surrounding communes such as Fo and Dandé were present as well as several other authorities and the chief of the village of Bama, to support the commune of Bama in this initiative.
