Solar system
The Earth that humans live on is in the Solar System. It turns out that the Solar System also has relative motion because the motion of each planet is relative to one another.
The relative motion of the Earth occurs to the Sun. Earth is a planet that rotates on its axis that intersects its center.
This process of Earth’s rotation is relative to the rotation of the other planets in the Solar System. At this time the Earth rotates around the Sun which causes the change of day and night.
Earth’s rotational moment is relative to the rotation of other planets. The Earth’s rotation differs from that of several other Solar System planets around the Sun.
Therefore, even though the planets are moving in a rotational motion, they are still relative to each other and are an example of relative motion that you can understand.
Two Moving Cars
The next example of relative motion is two cars that are moving and are on the same road. Vehicle passengers will assume that another car is moving. However, their car itself was immobile when compared to the car.
For example, both cars are moving in the same direction. Consider the first vehicle moving at 60 km/h and the second car at 40 km/h.
An example of the relative speed of the two cars would be the sum of their two speeds. When we consider the motion of the cars relative to one another, then car one will appear to be stationary relative to car 2, and vice versa.

River Water and Boats
The next example of relative motion that we can easily find around is between rivers and water. There are two different scenarios with the relative motion of the boat as well as the river.
The assumption is that the water in the river is still, then the boat will move across the river without disturbance at a constant speed.
Therefore, the boat will reach the other side of the river at a constant speed as well. Now let’s say that the water in the rover is running and the boat isn’t moving across the river.
This is because the water and the boat will be relative to each other and the speed of the water flow will affect the speed of the boat. The boat will move in a certain direction in order to reach the other side of the river
