Examples of pseudo roots exist in plants. Some plants are examples of owners of this pseudo-root. What types of plants are there?
The root is the most important part of the plant. Without roots, plants cannot live longer.

The existence of the root is actually underground. This becomes the part of the plant that supports the whole body, so that eventually the plant can stand upright and even get nutrients.
Example Pseudo-Plant Roots around
Plants are living things that exist on Earth. Of course we will very easily find the existence of plants in the environment around where we live.
This is because plants are inseparable from human and animal life. Humans and animals need plants in life.
Plants themselves can act as food for humans and animals, but can also be a source of oxygen. The process of plant photosynthesis will produce food for them and oxygen.
One of the parts of a plant’s body is the root. There are several types of roots, starting from fibrous roots, hanging roots, hanging roots, props, breaths, adhesives, and finally pseudo roots.
What is Pseudo Root?
The root is the part of the plant that is mostly underground. The task of the roots themselves will be to absorb water and also nutrients.
Each plant has a different type of warrior. In addition, each type of root also has its own duties, functions and benefits.
In general, there may be two types of roots, namely taproot and fibrous. However, the development of science now states that there are several types of plant roots, including one that will be pseudo.
Pseudo roots include a part of an organ or tissue that is in the plant body. However, anatomically these roots are not considered roots. However, this example of pseudo roots still has a role like roots in general.

This definition, of course, corresponds to the name of this root, namely pseudo. So, this root organ has a function like a root but the shape is not.
Plants that Have Pseudo Roots
Previously, it was explained that pseudo roots are types of roots that are not actually roots, but are still part of the stem or petiole that resemble roots.
However, pseudo roots still have the exact same function as roots. These pseudo roots are underground or in the substrate attached to the surface of a stem or petiole.
We can find this pseudo-root in various types of plants. Examples of pseudo roots can be seen in various types of plants, such as orchids, epiphytes, and also bromeliads.
All of these one pseudo-plants have a shape that looks different. That’s why plants with pseudo-roots are actually quite special.
Functions of Pseudo Roots
When talking about function, this pseudo root also has a function that is almost the same as other types of roots.
If in epiphytic plants, pseudo roots will function to attach to the surface of a tree trunk or branch which acts as a shelter.
Meanwhile, pseudo roots in orchids and bromeliads have different functions. The function of pseudo roots in these two plants is to absorb water and nutrients from the substrate where they grow.
Pseudo roots will absorb nutrients such as in the gotu kola or the soil around it. That’s what makes this root special.
Even though the pseudo root does not actually have a main function as an organ for absorbing nutrients, pseudo roots still have a structure similar to roots.
This pseudo root consists of fine hairs and an epidermal layer which is useful for absorbing water and also nutrients from the substrate.

In fact, some types of pseudo roots have a specially formed structure like a shell. This structure helps hold water and nutrients that the roots take up from the substrate.
More than that, pseudo roots are able to help plants to withstand shocks and wind pressure. Some pseudo-roots in epiphytic plant plants also aid their growth in extreme environments.
Those are various examples of pseudo roots that are around. This type of root is indeed very different from other types of roots, but its function is still similar. (R10/HR-Online)
