For a week, starting this Monday, the jurors will look into two incest cases: one in West Aveyron, the other in Rodez.
This Monday, the Aveyron Assize Court will meet for the third time of the year. With two rape cases on the program. The first will certainly take place behind closed doors. For three days, the jurors will face a 45-year-old man, originally from Essone and living in the department, in Loupiac then Sonnac, for many years. He is accused of several rapes against his daughter and his daughter-in-law. It is this one, only seven years old, who at the beginning of 2021 opens up about the actions of the man who is her mother’s companion. Immediately, a complaint is filed. Understandably, the man admits to the rapes and is placed in pre-trial detention. The investigation will show that the child was not the only victim…
First rapes never reported
The accused’s daughter, born from a previous union, also suffered the same things between the ages of 10 and 13 at the end of the 2010s. He even confided in his ex-wife but she never filed a complaint. “She didn’t have confidence in the justice system,” she said. “It’s infuriating because it could have avoided a new victim…”, tells us a source close to the matter. A case in which the president, Véronique Maugendre, should focus more on the personality of this man, already known to the justice system for drug related matters, rather than on the facts. He recognizes them all. During the three days of debates, he will be advised by the Ruthenian lawyer, Me Annabel Montels-Estève, and a colleague from the Montpellier bar, Me Joanna Elkaïm. The verdict is expected during the day on Wednesday.
The Ruthenian accused denies the facts
The next day, Thursday, a new three-day trial will begin. For similar facts: rape with aggravating circumstances. Because it is once again a father who is accused of incest on his daughter. He is approaching fifty, she is now an adult. The case dates back to 2018 in the Ruthenian metropolitan area when the young woman, then a minor and in a medical-educational institute (IME), confided having been raped. His mother, separated from his father, filed a complaint. Since then, the latter has been under judicial supervision and has always denied the facts with which he is accused. He will be defended by the dean of the Aveyron bar, a regular at assize courts, Me Hubert Aoust as well as Me Stéphanie Boutaric. The civil party will be represented by Ruthenian Me Christelle Cordeiro.
