Exam stunt gets out of hand: school building evacuated for large smoke bomb

The exam stunt of students at the Norbertus Gertrudis Lyceum in Roosendaal came to an abrupt end on Friday morning, when students set off a large smoke bomb in the building. Due to the nuisance, the school had to be evacuated and all classes have been canceled for the rest of the day.

“The day started festively with balloons, confetti and soap slides in the wardrobe,” the school said in a letter to the parents of students. “However, around half past ten a large smoke bomb was detonated.”

At the behest of the fire brigade, it was then decided to evacuate the building. “The police were also present to calmly guide the exam students home. All classes for the rest of the day are canceled.”

And that is a sour end to what should have been a party, the school emphasizes. “Just like the graduation committee – who spent a lot of time organizing a nice last day – we are very sorry that this turned out this way.”
