In a statement made by the London Metropolitan Police, it was reported that former soldier Khalife, who escaped from HMP Wandsworth Prison in the capital on Wednesday, was taken into custody.
In the statement, it was noted that the police caught Khalife in the Chiswick region around 11:00 local time and detained him.
Armed police were seen searching Chiswick this morning with police dogs after a tip-off from residents.
-He was detained for “leaving explosives”, “leaking official information” and “contact with terrorist suspects”
Khalife, who escaped from HMP Wandsworth Prison in London at 07.50 local time on Wednesday, was last seen wearing red and white checkered trousers, a white shirt and boots.
Khalife, who was first brought before a judge on January 27 and ordered to be detained in detention, was accused of “providing information to a person who is expected to commit or instigate a terrorist attack”, “placing suspicious items in a way that would cause explosion or fire and damage himself, others or property”. and “providing information, documents, records, publications and contacting people for the benefit of enemies in violation of the Official Secrets Act.”
The next hearing in the trial of Khalife, who was dismissed from military service on May 22 due to the accusations against him, is planned to be held on November 13.
HMP Wandsworth Prison, where Khalife escaped, is known as one of the largest prisons in the country. Only male prisoners are kept in the prison, where names such as writer Oscar Wilde, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and German tennis player Boris Becker stayed in the past.
