“After one fight in prison, I decided I didn’t want to spend another nine years there. That gave me a kick and I started leafing through the laws,” says ex-prisoner Tomáš Toman, whose story is told in the mini-series VOYO Mathematics of Crime. With the help of journalist Magdalena Sodomková, he managed to prove that he was wrongfully sentenced to 12.5 years for a fight in which another man died. “The statue that no one measured played a role in it. There were errors in the expert opinion, not one of the three data in one equation was correct. Even the police did special interrogations of people who we never found,” says Sodomková.
