Ex-President Trump to stand trial on Tuesday without handcuffs

The 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, will take part in a court hearing in New York state next week in the case of payments to former pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, for which he faces imprisonment.

This, as reported byEuropean truth“, on the air of the TV channel ABC said one of Trump’s lawyers, Joe Takopin.

According to the lawyer, the ex-President of the United States will personally arrive in New York, where on Tuesday, April 4, he will face criminal charges related to falsifying tax returns.

“The president will not be handcuffed. As for the photograph under arrest and whether he will be held publicly as a criminal, then, as I said, I am sure that they (the accusations – ed.) will try to make it so that they enjoy it by exposing him to the parade,” Takopin said.

He also claims that for the defense of Trump and himself, the accusations came as a surprise, and they themselves are “unprecedented in the history” of the United States.

As Tacopina later clarified in a comment CBS Newsthe hearing is likely to take place at 12:30 local time (19:30 Kyiv time) on April 4.

The channel, citing sources, claims that the ex-president will fly to New York on Monday, and the next day will appear before Judge Juan Merchan, where he will be charged.

March 30 Manhattan Grand Jury decided to nominate Trump criminal charges. Their exact content is unknown, but the case focuses on the payment of money to porn star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 election campaign.

The story in the case began in 2006 when pornographic actress Stormy Daniels met Trump at a charity golf tournament and he paid her to have sex at a hotel near Lake Tahoe resort.

Prosecutors believe that in October 2016, at the height of the presidential campaign, the porn actress received at least $130,000 under a non-disclosure agreement, which was actually intended to fund the Trump campaign. This is a felony that carries up to four years in prison under New York State law.
