Jakarta –
Former President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) for the period 2006-2009, Ari Soemarno opened up about corporate credit card limits. However, in contrast to the information previously disclosed by Pertamina’s President Commissioner Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, according to Ari, Pertamina’s credit card limit when he was in office was Rp 500 million.
Previously, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or well known as Ahok revealed that Pertamina’s corporate credit card limit reached Rp 30 billion.
“When I was the CEO for the first time it was decided to give Corp. Credit Cards (CCC) from the Manager level to the Directors and Commissioners level. The limit depends on the position, the highest is the directors and commissioners, which is Rp 500 million,” said Ari Soemarno quoted from CNBC Indonesia, Friday (25/06/2021).
Ari Soemarno said the regulations for using Pertamina’s credit cards at that time were quite strict for each level. The purpose of its use is for business trips and client entertainment, there is no need to ask for a down payment in advance.
Credit card usage Pertamina it is also forbidden to cover personal expenses.
“His accountability is also strict, where he has to make an expense report / accountability report at the end of every month which is approved by his two superiors and if it is late it can be blocked and revoked and if it is used not for official purposes, a warning is given and the salary is cut,” he explained.
In addition, there are limits on official expenses for each level, for example for lodging, meals, transportation, and entertainment. But for the board of directors, he admits that there is no limit.
“If the board of directors does not have a limit for spending on official needs, they must also make an expense report and the validation must be signed by two members of the board of directors. Thus, the accountability is clear,” he said.
“When I was in office, the CEO had to also make an expense report which was verified by the Deputy President Director and one other director,” he said.
Ari also assesses when the credit card limit is now Pertamina up to Rp 30 billion, but it is not reported clearly and accountably, then this is certainly something that is not true.
“If the current limit is (Rp) 30 billion and you don’t use an expense report, it’s strange and not true,” he said.
