Ex-K3’tje Kathleen Aerts says goodbye to mother

Kathleen is having a tough time, she says on Instagram. Her ‘dearest mama’ passed away peacefully at her ‘home under the South African sun’, she reports. “My brother and I are privileged to have had such a sweet, caring, funny mom who was always in the mood for a party,” said the former K3 singer. According to her, it was ‘never’ boring in the Aerts house thanks to her mother. “With a beer and a cigarette in hand and a sausage and cheese, she was a listener to many at our kitchen table.”

From Masked Singer-the participant is grateful to her ‘ubermama’ ‘for the time she gave us to say goodbye’. Kathleen’s mother has been on an ‘Alzheimer’s journey’ for ’16 years. ‘Sometimes an ordeal, but also with very intense beautiful moments’, she says. ‘Our mum is surrounded by three fantastic caretakers in our home day and night with the best loving care. She was right here happy that she may well have broken the record for surviving dementia survivors. ‘

The house is ‘very empty’ without her mother, says Kathleen. ‘I have not lost you’, she writes, ‘I feel you, I see you in my heart. Forever. My best friend, my mama. Immense gratitude and endless unconditional love. ‘

Kathleen recently made a comeback on stage. The singer participated The Masked Singer in Belgium, much to the shock of her former colleague Karen Damen. It was an emotional affair for the two of them, as can be seen in the video below.
