Former imam Haram Mosque, Sheikh Saleh Al-Talib, was sentenced to 10 years in prison immediately after the material of his sermon sparked controversy. Al-Talib was officially convicted soon after his arrest in 2018.
In August 2018, Saudi authorities arrested Al-Talib while he was continue to serving as an imam at the Grand Mosque.
