Christian Hinsch, long-time member of the board of directors of the Hanoverian insurer HDI, which belongs to the Talanx Group, died in a car accident on Tuesday. According to media reports, the 65-year-old was driving his BMW and the trailer loaded with a Ferrari on the A 7 near Großburgwedel when he lost control of his car and crashed into the guardrail. Another car could not brake in time and collided with Hirsch’s car. Hinsch died a short time later in the hospital from his injuries.
Hinsch was active at HDI and Talanx for over 30 years. He joined the group in 1984. After holding various positions, he was appointed to the HDI Management Board in 1996 and to the Talanx Management Board in 2000. Most recently, between 2009 and the beginning of 2019, he was Deputy CEO of Talanx and HDI, responsible for the global business with industrial insurance.
In 2019, Hinsch left the group and founded the management consultancy Christian Hinsch Consulting. In addition, Hinsch was President of the Lower Saxony Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to 2018 and President of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce between 2016 and 2020.
