Ex-FPÖ city councilor: “If you even destroy documents, it gives a very bad picture” – FPÖ

After the election defeat in autumn 2021, the multi-million dollar scandal about misappropriated club funds of the FPÖ Graz became public. Ex-Vice Mayor Mario Eustacchio and club boss Armin Sippel resigned. So far, the public prosecutor’s office is investigating six suspects on suspicion of infidelity, fraud and re-activation. It is the presumption of innocence. Claudia Schönbacher took over the party with other backbenchers during the crisis, but was soon expelled. Because they wanted to clarify the scandal with the authorities, she says. She founded the “(Corruption) Free Municipal Council Club” with colleagues. Without a club and a seat in the city senate, the FPÖ Graz ended up in political insignificance.
