Player sold by Fluminense last year, Louis Henrique got off to a rocky start in Spain. So much so that Betis changed plans in relation to what they had envisioned for the striker in the team.
Betis was modeled after Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid. The Brazilian, too, gained space little by little until he established himself in the team. However, after the excellent start, Luiz Henrique has already quickly become one of the main players of the team in his first season in Europe.
In 21 games, Luiz Henrique already has six direct participations in goals in half of the European season. By way of comparison, Vini Jr, in his first year at Real, went on the pitch 31 times and was involved in 12 goals. He also played five matches for the B team.
Betis coach, Chilean Manuel Pellegrini praised Luiz Henrique’s maturity in complying with the recommendations.
— I made many conceptual mistakes, but we saw technical and tactical conditions as well. He works a lot on the sides, with a lot of projection and future. May it continue to grow, it has much more to offer – he said.
Luiz Henrique also showed a lot of commitment to Betis, which caught on well internally. On December 27, his father passed away. The club released him, but the striker asked to stay, played and won the man of the match award. He was even on coach Tite’s pre-list of 55 names for the Brazilian national team in the World Cup (he was not included in the final squad). It is a strong name for the next World Cup cycle and, mainly, the Olympics.
