Swearing, humiliating and showing sex videos where he could be seen himself. Rapper Kanye West’s former employees open a bad book about their former boss. “He used fear to bind you to him.”
The American magazine Rolling Stone was able to speak with former employees of Kanye West, who had earlier this week sent a letter to the management of the German sports brand Adidas. In it, they wondered if Adidas had thrown away its moral compass when it began a – now concluded – collaboration with Kanye West.
The Rolling Stone story begins with a former employee recounting a meeting at the Qinyuan Adidas factory where West came to see the prototype of a new sneaker for his Yeezy line. Kanye grabbed the shoe and then left a long silence. He’d say the prototype didn’t live up to his needs, only to explode the next second in anger and yell in an older employee’s face, “I want you to make a shoe I can fuck.” The Adidas bosses let it all go without the slightest comment.’
The oldest employee has been home sick for a long time. She then requested a transfer to a department where she was certain she would never have contact with Kanye West again. According to (anonymous) Rolling Stone witnesses, in recent years West has ‘often exploded at women with offensive comments and used sexually disturbing references when she provided feedback. Unbelievable that Adidas management tolerated this.’
Sex movie
Rolling Stone has found three witnesses who tell how West used porn to tie people to him. A witness recounted his interview for a position on the creative team of Yeezy (West’s sneaker line for Adidas): “Suddenly he picked up the phone and said, now look what my wife just sent. And then he showed naked pictures of Kim Kardashian.’
Another employee says Kanye West suddenly stuck his phone under her nose and flashed a sex video featuring himself. It doesn’t seem incredible if you know that Kanye West in the now deleted YouTube documentary of him Last week he suddenly flashed porn on his cell phone during a meeting with Adidas bosses.
A former female employee explains to Rolling Stone what Kanye West means by this: “Submit and commit to him.” She thinks: if you’ve watched porn with someone, it’s a secret that you’ll share with each other from now on. And that secrecy – thinks West – is a means of binding you to him”.
Several US media outlets have asked Kanye West for an answer to these allegations, but he has not responded. A few weeks ago, Adidas ended its collaboration with West, after fashion chains Balenciaga and Gap had already done so.
