Dresden – Transferkracher! State league promoted FV Dresden 06 Laubegast has committed third division experienced Tony Schmidt (31) for the coming season and thus sent an exclamation mark to the competition.
The sporting director, Andreas Haupt and trainer Christoph Klippel proudly presented their prominent newcomer.
Schmidt played 19 games together with ex-regional league player Klippel, who also played three times for Dynamo Dresden in the third division and ended his career this summer.
Schmidt now wants to orientate himself back to Dresden in his early 30s: “For me personally, this league and this club offer the opportunity to ideally combine work and sport.”
He is really looking forward to the first units in the blue-yellow: “The Corona demolition was sporty and emotionally nothing for a thoroughbred footballer like me. It’s time to start again.”
Born in Dresden, he is now back in his home club after twelve years. He had left Laubegast in July 2008 and switched to Dynamo.
In his first season he only made six appearances as a substitute in the third division with SGD. In 2009/10 he was unable to make his final breakthrough with only four short assignments.
Instead, he collected in the then still existing U23 match practice in the NOFV Oberliga Süd (24 games, seven goals, four assists). In the summer of 2010 he left Dynamo and joined the regional division ZFC Meuselwitz, where he was a regular after a broken tibia (21 matches, four goals, five assists).

Tony Schmidt played at HFC 3rd league and excelled at FSV Budissa Bautzen in the regional league
In the summer of 2011, he moved to VFC Plauen, where he stayed for two years (54 appearances, 14 goals, ten assists) and recommended himself for higher tasks. Hallesche FC brought him back to the third division.
There he was a regular player, but he was denied a goal in his 47 league appearances. For this he gave eight templates and scored in the Saxony-Anhalt Cup for the HFC.
In July 2015, however, he went back two steps and joined TuS Koblenz, which played in the fifth-class Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar. There he was a top performer right from the start and with five goals and 13 assists in 27 league games had a significant share in the promotion to the Regionalliga Südwest.
After a total of 35 more appearances (three goals, three assists), he moved back to the northeast in summer 2017, where he played the strongest regional league season of his career.
Schmidt scored 14 goals in 35 games for FSV Budissa Bautzen and also gave six assists. A season later, he was successful with seven goals and nine assists in 32 games.
After Bautzen’s withdrawal from the regional league, Schmidt was hired for the first time in his career in the capital and came under the VSG Altglienicke, with whom he played an outstanding season and in the end was only second because of the coefficient. With 21 games (five goals, five assists) he made a significant contribution to the excellent season of the small club from Berlin-Köpenick.
