Ex-boyfriend Natalia passed away on 50th birthday

From 2006 to 2010, Koen Baeyens was Natalia’s partner in addition to being a professional volleyball player. The man died on Tuesday afternoon, on his birthday. His family made the news known via social media.

Koen Baeyens (50) died on Tuesday afternoon after euthanasia. According to reports, he had plans to end his life before.

It is Baeyens’ uncle Dominique who informs volleymagazine.be that his cousin “saw no way out. You can’t believe it when you remember Koen as the characterful middle player with his imposing figure, his drive for victory on the field, a bomb of energy. He certainly left his mark on the volleyball world. ”

“But he had been in a negative spiral for the past five years”, Dominique continues. “He barely left his house in Ninove, he found no rest in any area and he found no other way out than to get out of life. Everyone respected that decision, no matter how hard it weighed on his mother, father, and sister. I had a very good conversation with him on the eve of his death and then I understood better than ever how he felt. In a way he had already calmed down. ”

The day before his death, Koen was able to say goodbye to his family and loved ones and to his teammates at Maes Pils Zellik, the volleyball team he played for. In the early 2000s Baeyens met Natalia, since 2006 they were a couple. He chose to stay away from the attention and spotlights. However, there was that time that Natalia sang to him at a team performance in Herentals: You make me weak, you make me strong, you got me higher than the sun.

Koen and Natalia have now been separated for ten years. The funeral will take place in a closed circle.
