Ex-Bayern star takes Lewandowski to his chest: “This howling around is annoying”

In recent years there has been speculation that Robert Lewandowski will leave. He always stayed on the Isar. Now the contract of the exceptional striker expires next summer and the Pole could leave Bayern for free.

The world footballer and his star advisor Pini Zahavi have been said to be ready to talk about a contract extension for weeks. FC Bayern does not seem to be too determined here and is said to have not yet submitted an offer to the Poles. Lewandowski seems to have annoyed the wait, which in turn calls Markus Babbel into action. This practiced harsh criticism of the world footballer.

Babbel: “Thomas Müller doesn’t do such a circus”

Babbel said on “Sky” as follows: “It’s said that the appreciation isn’t enough for him, I can’t hear that anymore. No player in the last 20 years has received as much appreciation as Lewandowski has at Bayern.”

He continued: “Thomas Müller, for example, doesn’t make such a circus out of it. This howling is annoying. Lewandowski earns 25 million euros and wants more. No other Bayern player earns as much.”

Babbel was with Bayern for over 15 years and also went through the youth department there. So a real homegrown. It’s not surprising that Babbel also questions Lewandowski’s loyalty and identification with the club: “There were times when he wanted to leave permanently, for a while he didn’t really identify with the club. Nevertheless, FC Bayern stood by him because they think a lot of him. He became Champions League winner and world footballer at FC Bayern. A bit of gratitude is also part of it – not always just demanding.”

Lewandowski: Changing when you are old is not always a good idea

It should be clear that 33-year-old Lewandowski is one of the best footballers on the planet at the moment. The only question is how much of his class he owes to FC Bayern. Would the Pole be able to perform similarly at another top club?

Prominent gentlemen are currently demonstrating how it is not possible. Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain last summer after more than 20 years at FC Barcelona. Things haven’t been rosy there for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. Among other things, he was even hissed at by his own fans after the Champions League defeat against Real Madrid.
