EWZ: The climate thanks from the Arctic to Zurich

Live, on the two nights of January 1st and 2nd, 2022, everyone from Adils to Zoe was personally wished “Lots of energy for 2022” on striking Zurich buildings. Over 600 first names were submitted by the people of Zurich as part of EWZ’s New Year’s Magic social media campaign. In addition, Ron Orp has reserved 22 names for the New Year’s wishes 2022 for the community, according to a message.

Gerry Hofstetter then staged 200 names on historical buildings in Zurich as New Year’s greetings projections. EWZ provides all of the photos free to download available, as it goes on. This means that the “Climate thanks Zurich” campaign is becoming more and more part of Zurich and more and more interactive.

In alternation with the New Year’s name wishes, thankful penguins, polar bears and seals could be seen on the buildings. The subjects come from the Ruf Lanz campaign. According to the announcement, what is unique about the staging is that these subjects were projected onto gigantic blocks of ice by Gerry Hofstetter’s team on an Arctic expedition and captured there both photographically and on film. The resulting 40-second short film “The climate thanks Zurich” is currently running in Zurich cinemas and can be seen in Arthouse, Riffraff and Le Paris until mid-February.

With these two measures, EWZ is “at the beginning of the year in an innovative and emotional way to draw attention to the fact that climate protection concerns us all and that EWZ has been making a positive contribution to it as an energy pioneer in the field of renewable energies since it was founded in 1892”.
