No victory but a very nice revelation on this Paris-Nice on the side ofArkéa B&b Hotels. After entering the top 20 of the Race to the Sun the day before thanks to a very beautiful climb of the Madone d’Utelle, Ewen Costiou pulled off this Sunday on the 8th and final stage to validate this great week. Mission accomplished for the young 21-year-old runner, since despite his 33rd place of the day more than 9 minutes behind the winner Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), the Brestois even grabbed a position overall and finished in 17th place, his best career result in a WorldTour event. The French hopeful returned after the race to this week full of learning.

“Ewen Costiou ran correctly throughout the week, listened to the instructions, fought to hang on to the best for as long as possible.”

“17th overall in Paris-Nice, someone would have told me that a week ago, I signed straight away”
“I am happy with my week at Paris-Nice 2024. The objective every day was to try to follow the best for as long as possible. 17th is a good crossing point. This makes me feel good in terms of confidence. This Sunday on the last stage around Nice, I really finished on the “grater” as they say in cycling jargon. I would like to thank my sports director, Arnaud Gérard who really pushed me and encouraged me until the end. Without him the day would have been complicated. I gave everything, I hurt myself like never before. I have no regrets. I was in tears on the bike on the last bump. 17th overall in Paris-Nice, someone would have told me that a week ago, I signed straight away.”
His sports director Arnaud Gérard also returned to this performance.“17th in Paris-Nice for Ewen Costiou is a great satisfaction, especially considering his age: 21! He just ran throughout the week, listened to the instructions, fought to hang on to the best for as long as possible. He demonstrated great qualities, now he is a young runner who is discovering it, and we remain measured even if we obviously enjoyed his week. He will now recover before switching in a few days to a French Cup program“.
