The best Polish sprinter, Ewa Swoboda, performed very well in the qualifying rounds of the women’s 100 metres, confidently winning her race.
Żorzanka started in the fifth qualifying race, and her most dangerous rival was the European champion Dina Asher-Smith. Iwona Krupa’s protégé started strongly from the starting blocks and crossed the finish line first with time 10,99 sek. With this, she confidently advanced to the semi-finals.
In the qualifying rounds, eight competitors achieved times below 11 seconds, and the fastest was Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith (10.87 s).
