EVZ: Rotations in the coaching staff of the U20 and U17 elite
After Fabio Schumacher left EVZ for the U17 national team, Thomi Derungs took over the U20 Elite. His successor as head coach of the U17 elite is Sven Lindemann.
49-year-old Thomi Derungs joined EVZ in 2020 and has coached the U17 elite for the past three years. Since 2017/18, the Davos resident has also been on the gang for the U16 national team and took over as head coach there in 2018, according to the EVZ media office.
Sven Lindemann succeeds Thomi Derungs as the new head coach at the U17 elite. After the Aros native was a player at EVZ from 2010 to 2014, he returned to Central Switzerland in 2019 as head of youth sports. At the same time, the 45-year-old has also been the head coach of the U15 elite since then, according to the EVZ media office.
“With Thomi Derungs and Sven Lindemann, we were able to ideally fill the head coach positions of our two competitive sports teams,” says General Manager Reto Kläy. “Both are very familiar with the performance culture of the EVZ and also know the training concept The Hockey Academy”.
Reto Kläy continues: “The continuity created in this way is an important prerequisite for further cooperation with the first team and also with the youth sector.” Due to the rotations in the coaching staff, the head coach position at the U15 Elite is currently vacant, the media release concludes.
