The implementation of joint projects between the countries of the region under the sign of Brand Balkans is a condition for the increase in the number of tourists and for the world to get to know us better. Governments and business must do their part to achieve this success. this was stated in an interview with BNT by the acting minister of tourism, Evtim Miloshev.
“I deeply believe in this. It’s not that it’s something new, but it’s difficult to implement,” he said regarding Brand Balkani. He pointed out that we do not have air connectivity in the Balkans as the main drawback. Road connectivity is under all criticism and cannot provide the logistics to bring more foreign tourists.
Brand Balkani is aimed at the countries of the Far East – such as China, Japan, South Korea, as well as at users of the tourist service in America. They go to such destinations to experience the local culture, and the Balkans is a very interesting place for them. They want to visit many sites in several countries – try the food, go to the sites listed in the UNESCO world heritage, explained Miloshev.
However, according to him, the road connectivity does not currently allow large-scale tours to be carried out, which would make the Balkan destination sufficiently popular.
As an example, Evtim Miloshev gave Qatar Airlines, for whose interest he learned to operate a destination to us. But in order to fill the planes, active activity of tour operators and agents is needed, the minister stated. States, politicians create the environment, but business then takes its role in attracting visitors, Miloshev emphasized, adding that then tourists leave, air lines are full, and communication between people becomes very strong.
According to him, the Balkans destination is also interesting for tourists from Europe. Yes, places like Rome, Paris and Barcelona are very popular, but people want something different. The Balkans give them life, food, cuisine, cultural and historical heritage, emphasized Evtim Miloshev.
