Evolution by exchange in Pokémon GO: how it works and what Pokémon you can get

Pokémon GO also includes the essential exchange evolution mechanic, common in the main saga games, but which did not arrive in the mobile game until January 2020.

In Pokémon GO there are no exclusive Pokémon that you can only get by trading, but if you evolve them in this way, you will get save you the cost of pokemon candies.

If you wanted to evolve them by normal methodsyou would need 100 or up to 200 Pokémon candies in some cases, and farming to get that amount can take a long time, so it is advisable to take advantage of the evolution by exchange.

How evolution by exchange works

The evolution by exchange in Pokémon GO has a series of requirements:

  • It can only be done in person, or to a maximum distance of 100 meters (no remote exchanges)
  • You must have the other user added as friend
  • You must both be from Trainer level 10 or higher
  • you can only trade a pokemon once
  • Los CP and HP of the Pokémon will be changed when exchanging
  • You won’t spend candy but yes stardustwhich will depend on the rarity of the Pokémon or your level of friendship with the other trainer

To make an exchange and get an evolution, you must go to the friends tabselect the friend with whom you are going to exchange a Pokémon (and with whom you have to be in person) and touch the Exchange option.

When you trade, you’ll earn additional Candy, which depends on the distance you’ve traveled between where the Pokémon was originally caught and where you’re trading.
