Libreville, Monday April 3, 2023 (Info Gabon) – The Head of State took advantage of the celebration this weekend of the 55e anniversary of the Gabonese Democratic Party to remember this painful ordeal and to thank all the souls of good will who mobilized at its bedside.
The Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) founded by Omar Bongo Ondimba in 1968 celebrated its 55th anniversary last Saturday.e anniversary. These Orchid weddings celebrated at the Palais des Sports in Libreville saw a massive presence of activists and supporters of the ruling party. But, above all, the presence of a distinguished guest, the Distinguished comrade Ali Bongo Ondimba. The President of the CEO took the opportunity to salute the progress made so far. Taking his audience by surprise, the speaker returned to his stroke which he suffered on October 24, 2018 during his stay in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on the occasion of an investment summit. “I would like to take a few minutes to tell you what I haven’t said yet. Coming from London, I land in Saudi Arabia. That morning, I had meetings with heads of state. Everything went well,” he says.
After having lunch with his delegation, he will not be able to join his African counterparts with whom he was to participate in a program on the presence of the leaders of the continent at this summit. “I found myself alone at the table because the others had come down. I don’t remember how things happened, ”he continues. “But I remember I asked for the doctor to be called. As soon as he arrived… from that moment, I don’t remember anything until the last day of my stay in Saudi Arabia. However, in the meantime I woke up. I talked. My family had arrived, wife and all that…”, he says. “I made a total blockage of my stay in Saudi Arabia. I remember the last day. I walked around the hospital a bit to relax and we left for Morocco,” he recalls.
Acknowledgment to the King of Morocco
Evacuated urgently to Rabat in Morocco, the Gabonese head of state will be in the care of his brother King Mohammed VI who will take care of his entire stay as well as that of his delegation. “The King has done everything for me. I stayed with him. And I benefited from all the care to be able to gradually regain my senses, ”he says. With the impossible no one being bound, Ali Bongo Ondimba will be forced to deliver his traditional end-of-year and New Year’s message to the Nation from abroad. “I still have a few memories like the first message I sent you at Christmas which only had a few lines “, recalls the Gabonese number one. During this ordeal, Ali Bongo Ondimba’s power was saved thanks to the prompt reaction and professionalism of the special forces who on January 8, 2019 thwarted a coup attempt led by Lieutenant Kelly Ondo on duty at the guard of honor of the Republican Guard which had managed to seize the Maison de la Radio. But, the president will keep his spirits up thanks to the prayers and unwavering support of his people. “I remember when I returned permanently from Morocco, how much you impressed me with your welcome! I don’t know. And what’s more, everyone accompanied my car to my house… It did me a world of good. You can not realize the good that it could do me, “he rejoiced.
To remain at the service of the people
Following this difficult ordeal, Ali Bongo Ondimba was able to measure how much he was carried in the hearts of his compatriots. ” JI couldn’t have done all of this without your support… You supported me. With a people like that, you feel strong. There is no doubt. We will go even further, further, further and we will do it all together because the country needs us, ”he promises. “I am entirely at the service of the country because God gave me the lesson… Be at the service of your country. Because, the disease that I had, I am lucky. There are barely 10% who survive after that and no head of state (…) It is a blessing from God”, he confessed. With the stroke now in the rearview mirror, Ali Bongo Ondimba intends to pursue the challenges that challenge him with a view to constantly improving the living conditions of Gabonese people. “Keep in touch with the people and do what I can. Because God wanted us to stay together… and that I continue to carry Gabon’s voice everywhere,” insisted the Head of State.
