EVL saves the 6:5 victory after a 5:1 lead in overtime – landshuter-rundschau

Landshut – hs (19.02.2023) Today, Sunday, EV Landshut – kick-off 5 p.m. – as seventh in the table (72 points) has fifth in the table (75 points), the Krefeld Pinguine in the almost sold-out (4237 spectators) home Fanatec Arena Opponent. But four minutes later, Brett Cameron (Assist: Jack Olin Doremus, Samir Kharboutli) can make it 2-1 for Landshut. – When it comes to shots on goal, Krefeld is ahead by a nose in the first third with 12:8.

Second third: The EVL players come out of the dressing room highly motivated. In the 21st minute, Samir Kharboutli made it 3-1 (Assist: Benedikt Brückner, Brett Cameron). In the 25th minute, crowd favorite Jack Olin Doremus (Assist: Thomas Brandl, Marco Pfleger) scored the goal to make it 4:1 and six minutes later Thomas Brandl increased it to 5:1 (Assist: Marco Pfleger, Nick Pageau). The penguins from Krefeld can catch up in the 31st minute to 5:2 and in the 36th minute to 5:3. But then the EVL stays on the trigger again until the second break. The Landshuter can report the better shot rate in the second third with 12:9.

Last third: The guests from Krefeld don’t want to admit defeat. In the 53rd minute they can shorten to 5:4. But the fans of EV Landshut react promptly with “EVL, EVL” cheers. And in the last minute, the tirelessly running penguins scored the fourth goal in a row and thus equalized to 5:5. – So an extension of 5 minutes. And that shows once again the special class of Jack Olin Doremus. After just 36 seconds he scored the winning goal to make it 6:5 (Assist: Samir Kharboutli, Nick Pageau). Goal shot ratio in the last third: 10 Krefeld, 6 EVL. So two points remain in Landshut. The EVL fans accompany the ultimately victorious players into the dressing room with chants of joy. The penguins, who scored four goals in the second half to make it 5:5, can take a point back to Krefeld.
