Evija Martinson’s solo concert / Day will be performed at the Latvian National Opera

At the beginning of the concert, European romantic chamber music will be performed, represented by Robert Schuman and Johannes Brahms. The continuation of the concert is dedicated to Latvian music. Listeners will be delighted by the compositions written for this trio and Evija Martinson’s voice – Georg Pelēčs’ vocal cycle, which won the Grand Music Prize 2018 Neither wisdom nor anger comes to mind with the poetry of Knut Skujenieks. Anna Veismane’s new work created on a beautiful summer day will experience its premiere at the concert Three Japanese haiku, written for Agnese Egliņa and Evija Martinsone. “My first solo concert with Agnese Egliņš several years ago also took place in the Beletage Hall of the opera. After that we had a successful collaboration with Regīna Deičmanis and Peteris Vasks Foundation. Guntis Kuzmu, with whom I had never worked before, we started a nice collaboration, became like-minded people and had already merged into one molecule by the time of the concert. Neither wisdom nor anger comes to mind, who won the Grand Music Award. Anna Veismane had a three haiku vocal cycle dedicated to us with Agnes on a charming summer day. This piece will have its premiere at the concert. This is a long-cherished and long-awaited concert, which we planned to play already in the spring of 2020, “says Evija Martinsone.

“I wrote three haiku two years ago. It happened while sitting on a bench in the garden – according to all stereotypes about how the composer could create. I found three wonderful haiku and immediately thought of Evija’s sensitive vocals in tandem with Agnes.
