“This is a profession, he falls asleep and wakes up thinking of service to the people. A conservative monarch who loosens the reins when necessary. This death is an advertisement for the royal family and the monarchy,” believes Evgeni Minchev.
Lord Evgeni Minchev is the only Bulgarian who has touched the royal family more than once or twice. He is ambassador of the British Parliamentary Society for Culture, Fashion and Sport and sits on the committee of the Royal British Legion Charity Ball. He is intimately acquainted with the royal court and has reverence and respect for both Queen Elizabeth II and her family members, including Queen Beatrix and Eugenia’s granddaughters.
Although he did not know the queen personally, Evgeni Minchev knows a lot about her life, he also knows her hairdresser personally and also knows the head of catering at Buckingham Palace. For 15 years he has been friends with Lady Colin Campbell, the royal biographer. It was in her castle that she would remain in the days before her funeral.
Lord Minchev will not attend the funeral, but he says the whole mourning ceremony weighs on him.
“Personally, I think it is a manifestation of bad taste to carry this body around, and I don’t think this body is inside, I suppose a wax figure of the queen can be used,” clarified the gentleman. Minchev, the queen is an institution, a person that will be greatly missed by British society. You say that now the monarchy will change, for better or for worse – remains to be seen.
He defines King Charles III as a discreet and delicate person. Minchev is of the opinion that the British will vote a vote of confidence in King Charles. In the words of him, the memory of the queen will live long and will outlive many monarchs.
