Techno.id – After testing it among developers for the past few weeks, Apple has finally released the first public beta version of the iPadOS 17 update. This latest iteration of Apple’s tablet operating system brings a number of new tricks.
This operating system ported the iPhone’s Lock Screen customization features to the iPad, added motion effects for wallpapers, and brought interactive widgets along with a neat Live Activity system to the Lock Screen.
Apple has also optimized the Health app for large screens and is finally bringing it to the iPad. Plus, there are new mental health and vision features. On a functional front, iPadOS 17 enables PDF annotations, real-time collaboration updates, the ability to create user profiles in Safari, and use the iPad’s camera for FaceTime calls on external displays.
In addition, the Stage Manager will finally offer flexibility in resizing and moving between application windows. Spotlight gets smart actionable recommendations, and Siri can finally accept sequential requests without using the activation command over and over again. But before installing the iPadOS 17 public beta update on the iPad, there are a few things you should know.
Is your iPad compatible?

Apple has made the process of installing public beta updates quite easy. Also, unlike the developer beta update, users do not need a dedicated Apple developer account to install the beta update.
But before going to Apple’s beta software website and signing up, make sure your iPad is compatible. Here is a list of Apple tablets officially ready for the first public beta of iPadOS 17.
1, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation and later)
2. iPad Pro 10,5 inci
3. iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
4. iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
5. iPad (6th generation and later)
6. iPad mini (5th generation and later)
Unlike Android tablets, where you can flash custom ROMs to get around compatibility restrictions, or Windows, which offers multiple ways to get past the same, Apple doesn’t allow for those workarounds. If your iPad is compatible with the developer or public beta of iPadOS 17, then only you can install it.
If you’re using an older iPad that doesn’t meet the hardware compatibility requirements, then you’re out of luck. Another aspect you should keep in mind is that not all iPadOS 17 features will work on every supported iPad. For example, the exclusive Stage Manager works for iPads with an M1 or M2 chip inside.
