The Madrid-Murcia AVE will be inaugurated on Monday, November 19, but the first passengers who will make the journey will do so on Tuesday, December 20. There will be four daily trains that will arrive at the Chamartín and Atocha stations.
The two trains that are direct will have as final destination the Chamartín station, On the other hand, those who deviate to Alicante will end up at the Atocha station. The schedules of the direct AVE will leave the Carmen station at 06:25 and 19:30, The duration of the journey will be 2 hours and 45 minutes.
For their part, the two trains that stop in Alicante will take about the journey 3 hours and 30 minutes. In addition, the departure time of the trains is at 11:50 a.m. the first of the day and the second at 1:55 p.m. The four trains are going to stop in Orihuela and Elche, When they reach Monforte del Cid, the indirect ones continue in the direction of Alicante.
On the same day, December 19, the new convoys connecting Murcia with Alicante, which receive the name AVANT, will be put into circulation, thus shortening the journey to about half an hour.
For its part, the works council shows its discontent since it considers that after waiting so long It is nonsense that there are only two daily trains from Murcia to Madrid. In addition, the Minister of Development, José Ramón Díez de Revenga also demands more frequency of AVE in the region since he ensures that more than six journeys a day would be necessary.
