A difficult farewell. September 8 will forever mark the beginning of the end of keeping up with the Kardashians‘over a decade on E !.
Kim Kardashian broke the news that KUWTK will end in 2021 after Season 20. The KKW Beauty mogul confirmed the news via Instagram by dedicating a heartfelt statement to the show’s “incredible” fans.
“It was with heavy hearts that we made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to keeping up with the KardashiansShe wrote at the time. “After 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and many spinoff shows, we are more than grateful to all of you who have watched us all these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears and the many relationships and children. We will forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we have met along the way.
The founder of Skims continued: “Thank you to the thousands of individuals and companies who participated in this experience and, above all, a very special thank you to [series cocreator] Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! to be our partner and production team at Bunim / Murray, who have spent countless hours documenting our lives.
Closing her statement, Kardashian acknowledged that she “wouldn’t be where I am today” without the reality series and the fans who have supported her along the way.
KUWTK debuted on E! in 2007 and would ultimately generate 12 spinoffs, including Kourtney and Khloé take Miami, Kylie’s life and Kourtney and Kim take New York. Kim performed alongside her siblings Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, his mother, Kris Jenner, and former father-in-law, Caitlyn Jenner.
Shortly after Kim’s announcement, an insider exclusively said Us weekly that the Kardashian-Jenner women all “want a break to consider their options” outside of the series.
“The ladies are done with long hours and think they’re famous enough without the show to make all their money online,” a second source revealed. “They are businessmen first and foremost, and it is very evident to those around them who know that they can earn a lot more for a lot less hassle by looking for opportunities elsewhere.”
