Patrick Vieira admits that he still wants to join his Crystal Palace team this summer and hopes his “philosophy” reaches the players.
VieiraThe 45-year-old replaced Roy Hodgson in the Selhurst Park hot seat during the offseason. Many names were linked to the post after the former England boss canceled his four-year stay. But it was the French who got the go-ahead and wasted little time reshaping the squad.
Chelsea under-23 defender Marc Guehi was brought while Joachim Andersen was another defensive recruit. Midfielder Michael Olise has joined the ranks along with loan firm Conor Gallaher but the Eagles are not done yet.
There are still 11 days until the transfer window closes and South Londoners are willing to do business. Vieira told reporters at Friday’s press conference that he is actively looking for new recruits.
But he made it clear that it’s not a knee-jerk reaction to Palace’s opening 3-0 loss to Chelsea.
“Yes, but that was the case before Chelsea, and the case after the Chelsea game,” he replied when asked about hiring a new forward and midfielder. “The game didn’t really tell us about the players we needed, we knew that before.
What’s next for Robert Lewandowski: Man City, Liverpool, Real Madrid or staying at Bayern Munich?
«The President and Dougie [Freedman], we are working to improve the squad. We knew we had to bring in players, until the market [closes], everything is still possible. But we seek to improve the team, improve the squad ”.
Vieira hopes Palace will improve after tough start
Palace was overtaken by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend. It was a punishment experience against the European champions.
But hopes will be high when they go head-to-head with Brentford at Selhurst Park on Saturday. However, it will not be easy, as Thomas Frank’s team showed their intentions by beating Arsenal in their Premier League debut.
The Bees play a clear style of football with the Dane and are not afraid to attack the rival. Vieira has her own ideas and hopes to be able to join her positions as soon as possible.
“I think we had the players to do better than against Chelsea in possession,” he added, according to football.london. “I think you can see that there is a philosophy that we want to implement.
“That also comes with confidence and faith. And that is my responsibility to make the players understand what I want and what I expect of them on the field ”.
